What is a Type 22 radiator?

A Type 22 radiator has two panels and two full layers of convector fins. All that extra surface area dramatically increases heat output, making it the most powerful choice for demanding spaces. It is the deepest of the convector types, projecting furthest from the wall — so it pays to check you have the clearance before you buy.

Where Type 22 radiators work best

  • Large or open-plan rooms that need maximum warmth

If a Type 22 is more output than your room needs, a Type 21 radiator (double panel, single convector) offers a slimmer, balanced alternative, while a Type 11 radiator (single panel, single convector) is ideal for small spaces. A simple guide: small room → Type 11, average room → Type 21, large or hard-to-heat room → Type 22. For an exact match, calculate your room's BTU requirement before choosing.
