The 2026 Bath Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Bath for Your Bathroom
Buying a new bath should be the fun part of a bathroom project — but with so many shapes, sizes and styles to choose from, it's easy to feel a bit lost. Single ended baths
The classic, do-it-all bath. The tap end sits at one end and the sloped backrest at the other, so they're comfortable for a long soak and fit neatly against a wall. If you're replacing a standard bath, this is usually where to start.
Double ended baths
With a gentle slope at both ends and the waste in the middle, double ended baths are made for relaxing — and great if two people want to share. They suit larger bathrooms and create a more symmetrical, designer look.
Shower baths
The best of both worlds: a roomy showering area at one end that tapers into a full bath. Ideal where space is tight but you don't want to give up either a bath or a shower. Pair one with a matching bath screen and you're sorted.
Corner baths
Tuck one into an unused corner and you free up floor space while still getting a generous, deep bathing area. They make a real feature of a room and work brilliantly in irregularly shaped bathrooms.
D-shaped baths

Freestanding baths
The showstopper. A freestanding bath becomes the centrepiece of the room and instantly lifts the whole space. If you've got the floor area and want that hotel-spa feel at home, nothing else comes close.
