Bring the timeless black-and-white check of a Victorian hallway to your floor with this matt porcelain sheet – small black and white tiles set out in a classic period check on a mesh backing, so a whole 285x285mm section of pattern goes down in one go.
The black and white check is one of the most recognisable Victorian floor designs, found in the hallways, porches and kitchens of period terraces and villas. Because the small tiles arrive already set out on the mesh, the pattern stays true across the floor, and the matt finish keeps the look authentic with a practical, low-sheen surface underfoot.
Made from porcelain, it is dense, low-porosity and hard-wearing, and it is designed for indoor floors in hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories and living areas.

Coverage & Ordering
This design is priced and sold by the sheet. Each sheet covers 0.081m² and sheets are supplied in boxes of 14 (approximately 1.13m² per box), so roughly 12.3 sheets cover one square metre. To work out how many you need, multiply your area in square metres by 12.3 and round up. We recommend allowing an additional 10% for cuts, wastage and future repairs.
Tiles are produced in batches and slight variation in shade between batches is normal. Please order the full quantity you need in one go so that everything comes from the same batch.
Installation Notes
Fix to a flat, sound and rigid subfloor with a flexible floor tile adhesive. Press each sheet mesh-side down into a full bed of adhesive and tamp it level as one unit, keeping the joints between sheets the same width as the joints within the sheet. Handle sheets carefully and support them flat when lifting, as individual small tiles can come away from the backing; if one does, fix it back in place with adhesive. Once set, grout the whole surface and clean with a neutral, non-abrasive cleaner. Dry-lay the sheets first and set out from the centre of the room so the pattern runs square to the main walls.
