Bushboard Nuance Fusion Dark Denim wall panels in a bathroom

Nuance or Nuance Fusion: Which Bushboard Wall Panel Should You Choose?

Bushboard makes two Nuance wall panel ranges: the original 10mm Nuance panels and the slimmer 4mm Nuance Fusion panels. Both are waterproof and grout-free, but they differ in thickness, sizes, edge details and how they are finished. This guide sets out the differences so you can choose the right one for your bathroom.

Nuance: the seamless 10mm system

The standard Nuance panels are the heavier-duty option. The tongue & groove joints and postformed edges mean there is no visible metalwork – the finished wall looks like one continuous surface. That makes Nuance the natural choice when you want the cleanest, most premium look in a shower enclosure or around a bath.

Nuance comes in the widest choice of decors, from Arctic Gloss and White Quartz to marbles such as Calacatta Statuario and Bianco Carrara, stones such as Natural Greystone and Platinum Travertine, and timbers such as Native Oak and Driftwood. It is also the range offered in ready-made panel kits.

Nuance Fusion: the slim 4mm system

Nuance Fusion panels are much thinner and lighter, which makes them easier to handle and carry upstairs, and keeps the build-up on the wall to a minimum.

Fusion panels are joined and finished with trims rather than tongue & groove joints. The trims come in black or bright silver, so they can be part of the design:

  • End cap – finishes an exposed panel edge.
  • Internal corner – joins panels in an internal corner.
  • External corner – joins panels around an external corner.
  • H joint – joins two panels on a flat wall.

The Fusion decors include marbles (Azul Marble, Norris Marble, Bianco Venato and Calacatta Fantasia) and bold plain colours (Fresh White, Petrol Blue, Dark Denim, Ash Grey, Aegean, Dusty Pink, Storm Cloud and Cool Green). Each decor is also available as an 800 x 250mm vanity splashback, so you can carry the same look behind a basin.

Which should you choose?

Choose Nuance if…

  • You want a seamless look with no visible trims.
  • You are fitting a full shower enclosure or bath surround and want the panels and sealant in one kit.
  • You want a marble, stone or wood decor from the larger range.

Choose Nuance Fusion if…

  • You want the thinnest possible build-up on the wall.
  • You like the look of black or bright silver trims, or want a bold plain colour.
  • You want a matching vanity splashback.
  • You want lighter panels that are easier to handle.

Fitting and sealing

Both ranges are bonded to the wall with Wilsonart Complete neutral panel adhesive and sealed with Wilsonart Complete colour-matched sealant. Bushboard recommends a sealant colour for every decor – it is shown on each product page – and one 290ml tube seals about 20 linear metres at a 5mm bead. For general fitting advice, see how to fit bathroom wall panels.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix Nuance and Nuance Fusion in the same bathroom?

They are different systems with different thicknesses and joints, so we would not join them to each other on the same wall. Some people use Nuance in the shower and a Fusion splashback behind the basin.

Do Fusion panels need trims?

Yes. Fusion panels are joined and finished with the Nuance Fusion trims – end caps, internal and external corners and H joints – in black or bright silver.

Which range is easier to fit?

Fusion panels are lighter and easier to handle. Standard Nuance panels need no trims and come in ready-made kits. Both are fixed with the same adhesive and sealant.
