What is the AKW Tuff Form?

The AKW Tuff Form is a pre-formed, pre-graded wet floor former that sits within your floor to create a seamless, step-free showering area — removing the trip hazard of a traditional tray or bath edge. Moulded from incredibly strong compressed GRP (glass reinforced plastic), it's just 22mm deep, can be trimmed to fit, and accepts either vinyl safety flooring or tiles, making it ideal for both accessible "bathroom for life" installs and modern family wet rooms.

Exceptionally strong — supports up to around 60 stone (≈381kg), suitable for multi-user and assisted showering.
Suitable for timber or concrete floors — the ribbed underside prevents slippage and float during installation.
Trimmable to within 150mm of the waste without compromising strength or water integrity.

Tuff Form vs Tuff Form8

The original Tuff Form suits the majority of installations. The newer Tuff Form8 builds on it with up to 15 waste-fit positions in a rotatable grid and a central-drain option — ideal when joist positions are awkward or you want a centred waste for a design-led layout.

Choosing your waste

Your former needs a compatible waste. As a quick guide: gravity wastes (TF75, GW50, GW19, GW90) suit most installs where there's fall beneath the floor; pumped wastes (PGTF) are used where gravity drainage isn't possible; and you'll choose a vinyl or tiled floor waste depending on your finish.
